Successful FEMM Hub Meeting at Strathclyde
On 16 and 17 May 2022, the FEMM Hub met up at the University of Strathclyde for one of their quarterly meetings.
Kicking off with a welcome introduction from Hub Director, Professor Geraint Jewell, over the course of the two days, the team heard updates from each of the grand challenge projects and cross-cutting themes.
On day two, the team had a tour of the SEARCH lab within the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering (CUE). CUE has over 30 years of expertise in the design and implementation of ultrasonic transducers and transducer systems across a broad range of industrial sectors.
Professor Gareth Pierce led the informative tour of the facilities and answered questions on the focus of his work - robotics and autonomous systems for inspection, including non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E) for manufacture, and structural health monitoring (SHM) for asset inspection.
The FEMM Hub team also had a presentation from Emily Nunn from the Library at the University of Sheffield on the UKRI new open access policy which came into play on 1 April 2022.
The meeting was productive and the team left excited for the next steps.
