FEMM Hub travel to Derbyshire for British Science Week

On 16 March 2023, FEMM Hub Manager along with two PhD students Reece Eblet and Wei Liang Choong attended two primary schools in New Mills, Derbyshire as part of British Science Week to encourage pupils to consider going to university and to learn more about a career in engineering.

In the morning, the team visited Newtown Primary School before travelling to Thornsett Primary for the afternoon session, and just in time for school dinners! Both sets of children also had the opportunity to work in pairs and make their own motor which they could take home. The children were amazing, asked us lots of interesting questions about electrical machines and worked together during the tasks.
