FEMM Hub Present at EDPC 2023
On the 29th and 30th of November, FEMM Hub members Dr Lloyd Tinkler and Gianmarco Pisanelli travelled to Regensburg, Germany to attend the 13th International Electric Drives Production Conference (E|DPC). The conference attracted over 200 attendees from 16 different nations to share knowledge and insights in the field of electric drives production.
Day 1 kicked off with two keynotes, the first from Dr. Benno Pichlmaier, Director Global Research & Advanced Engineering, AGCO Corporation titled "Electrification for Agricultural Machines – Challenges and Opportunities" and the second from Dean Petrovski, Production Engineering, DeepDrive GmbH titled "Radial-Flux Electric Machine with Low Production Cost and High Efficiency". The conference then split into parallel sessions, with FEMM Hub researcher Gianmarco Pisanelli (see right) presenting his research titled "Flexible Manufacturing of High-value Low-volume Electrical Machines through Robotic Coil Winding" during the first session on Winding Technologies.
Dr Lloyd Tinkler (see left) presented during the Soft Magnetic Materials session on day 2 chaired by Dr. Michael Waasner, Gebr. Waasner Elektrotechnische Fabrik GmbH. His presentation titled "Manufacturing Processes for 2.5D Laminated Stacks" received great feedback and proved a great topic of discussion over the lunch break that immediately followed.
