FEMM Hub's PhD student Prithvi Bhagat has published a paper at the IEEE conference on Electrical Systems for Aircraft, Ship propulsion and Road vehicles (ESARS) held in Naples from the 26th - 29th November 2024.

The paper titled "A Methodology to Assess the Sustainability of E-motors in Electric Vehicles" summarises the growing electric vehicle demand in the past decade which has spiked rumor's on sustainability of electric motors. It depicts a comprehensive approach to sustainable manufacturing of electric motors (specifically in-wheel electric motors) and produces a ranking system which allows motor components to be ranked based on different criteria's (size, weight, material, cost etc.) It also includes a scope of improvement and an effort - impact score which is determined based on available opportunities in sustainable electric motor design.

He thanked his supervisors Dr. Catherine Jones, Dr. Jill Miscandlon and Protean electric for their unwavering help and support in writing this conference paper.
