FEMM Hub's Dr Alexei Winter attended the inaugural EPTS (Production Technologies and Systems for e-Mobility) conference in Karlsruhe, Germany on the 8th and 9th of October. This conference had been formed after the E|DPC conference had merged with two others to create a new e-mobility-focussed conference with a wider scope (including more battery and power electronics research). Aside from the fact that the papers being presented were excellent, it was good to see a host of familiar faces again from conferences in the past. Alexei concentrated on the motor manufacturing thread, and there were several papers relating to technologies that the AMRC and UoS had worked on, including hollow conductors, hot crimping and forming of litz wire, remote laser welding of hairpins, and more. Many interesting conversations occurred during the event and several follow-up opportunities will be pursued.
