Dr Glynn Atkinson Attends Sustainability Day Conference in Sweden

On the 25th of May, Dr Glynn Atkinson travelled from Newcastle University to Helsingborg, Sweden to attend a Sustainability Day conference hosted by Alvier Mechatronics at their new sea front offices. Alvier Mechatronics, a FEMM hub partner and long time research partner with the Newcastle University Electrical Power Group, is a Höganäs-affiliated company, which develops electrical drive solutions to the automotive industry.

Throughout the day, Glynn enjoyed a number of presentations from the following companies:

Polestar on the development of motors and drive trains with a lower lifetime carbon footprint.

Brink Motorsport on their development of 100% renewably charged, full electric touring cars for the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.

ZE Beyond and their ePOP (Electrified Propulsion Optimization Process) platform which can help identify optimum drive train designs taking into consideration performance, profit, and sustainability equation.

Alvier Mechatronics on their high frequency SiC driven SMC machine for an e drive train.

Höganäs on the development of new grades of SMC with reduced loss and their impressive figures showing a much lower CO2 footprint for SMC when compared to traditional laminations.
